According to this story in the Houston Chronicle HPD Assistant Chief Daniel Perales was transferred to a new position which includes management of the DWI task force.
What makes the move questionable by some is that Perales was previously reprimanded for failing to investigate a HPD officer who was in an accident with a school bus.
The officer has a blood alcohol of more that twice the legal limit at .205. The officer was later charged with DWI.
A first time DWI is a Class B Misdemeanor which carries a possible punishment of up to 180 days in County Jail and up to a $2,000 fine. If you or someone you know is in need of the services of a Houston lawyer for DWI defense call Texas Board Certified attorney Mario Madrid at 713-877-9400.
